The Summit has three core goals. They are:
1. To explore issue of African Nova Scotian Student Assessment and Achievement;
2. To explore issues of Accountability in education; and
3. To explore issues of African Nova Scotian Student Success.
A dynamic curriculum of practical workshops, keynotes presentations, cultural activities and spirituality sessions provides African Nova Scotian parents with two full days of training and development.
“CACE is very pleased to partner with the African Canadian Services Division, the Black Educators Association, the Association of Black Social Workers and others to provide an event that can truly enhance parents’ effectiveness in helping African Nova Scotian Learners succeed,” says Charles Sheppard, Chairperson of CACE.“
This is CACE’s fourth summit - and while the first three summits were critical to establishing protocols and strategies for the development of our sector - this parent summit is by far the most crucial of all the summits we’ve had so far,” says Delvina Bernard, Executive Director of CACE. “We want parents to come out and dialogue with us on the supports they need as parents in order to do their job of getting their children through school."
