Yolisa Dalamba

Yolisa Dalamba is currently the Executive Director of the Association of Part Time Undergraduate Students at the University of Toronto. Yolisa uses Africentric practices in healing, teaching, the arts and community development. She specializes in Africentric knowledges such as Maat, Ubuntu and Sankofa taught through creative, critical, participatory and experiential pedagogy. Yolisa lectured at Wits University in Azania/South Africa and is the founder of ROC – Reclaiming Our Children, an initiative that offers workshops to educate parents and youth about systemic oppression like the Safe Schools Act. Yolisa is a very active parent and educator in numerous communities. She is an instructor, curriculum writer & trainer at the Africentric Leadership Institute in Nova Scotia with the Council on African Canadian Education as well as a cultural consultant and anti-oppression trainer/facilitator. Yolisa has an Master's degree in Drama, focusing on Afrikan & Afrikan American Cinema Studies on slavery and the slave-experience.
