Dr. Simms’ outstanding contribution to Canadian society is recognized by many awards. These include the Black Achievement Award for contributions to Public Policy, the Inter-Amicus Human Rights Awards from McGill University and the Citation for Citizenship from the Canadian Government.
A renowned lecturer, Dr. Simms has been a guest speaker/lecturer on numerous occasions in a number of countries since 1981. She was the 1997 Henrietta Harvey Distinguished Lecturer at Memorial University (Newfoundland) and the 2001 Norman Washington Manley Lecturer at the University of the West Indies.
As an author of numerous publications, researcher and project leader, she has also spearheaded video productions and sustainable income generating projects at the level of the community.
A gender specialist, advisor to governments, developmental psychologist, educator, researcher, social policy negotiator, writer and public speaker Dr. Simms has developed expertise in race relations, human development, gender issues, community empowerment and issues that impact on women and minorities

Dr. Adriane Dorrington
Adriane Dorrington is a native of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia who now resides in Newport News, Virginia U.S.A. She holds a Bachelor of Schience and a bachelor of Education degree from St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, Nova Scotia; a Master of Education degree from the University of Alberta and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Toronto.

Ms. Yolisa Dalamba
Yolisa hails from Azania, better known as South Afrika. Yolisa’s name means, “the one who brings joy” in her native Xhosa language, popularized by the infamous Miriam Makeba. Yolisa is a staunch believer of holistic Afrikan-centred practices in healing, teaching, education, cultural analysis, social transformation. She is a critical cultural consultant, educator, multidisciplinary artist and community activist due to her involvement in the global anti-apartheid movement since the 70’s and 80’s in Canada. Yolisa’s life work is underpinned by the fundamental belief that - ONLY WE HAVE THE POWER TO TRULY HEAL & LIBERATE OURSELVES AS AFRIKANS.

Dr. Harvey Millar
Born in St. Lucia, West Indies, Harvey Millar has resided in Halifax since 1982. Harvey Millar completed a Bachelors degree (Upper Second Class Honors) in Industrial Engineering at the University of West Indies (U.W.I.) In 1982, upon being a recipient of a Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) Scholarship, he subsequently completed a Master of Applied Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Engineering at the Technical University of Nova Scotia in 1985 and 1990 respectively.
